Shannon Maureen Kirby, 24, of Chehalis, Wash., left us unexpectedly Saturday, October 31, 2020. She will be greatly missed.
Shannon was born Jan 9, 1996, in Concord, Mass., to William Joseph, Jr., and Deborah Ann (Lynch) Kirby. She graduated with the Class of 2014 from Sunset High School, in Beaverton, Ore., and moved to Chehalis with her mom and second dad, Chris Collins, to their new home, Buckleberry Farm, in 2017.
Shannon was an extremely bright and loving young woman- she loved everybody, and everybody loved her. She was known for her wit and sense of humor, love of classic rock, and her caring and generous spirit. She loved animals; she owned a horse named ‘Myles,’ two cats, a dog, and a pair of bunnies, among others, and wanted to bring all the strays home with her.
She loved the outdoors, and volunteered for a time tearing down and fixing buildings and equipment at ‘Camp Cooper,’ a Boy Scout Camp near her home in Oregon. Shannon worked at a stable outside of Portland, and was lucky enough to meet her four legged soul-mate, ‘Myles,’ who travelled with her to Chehalis, and went on many a trail ride with Shannon. She had just purchased a Yamaha V-Star motorcycle, and had hoped to get her license to ride it, soon.
Shannon, nicknamed ‘Red,’ by customers, worked at Town Center Liquor in Chehalis, for a time. Customers would wait ‘til she came on shift, just to say ‘hello.’ She fit in just about anywhere she worked, but her true calling was as a farmer. Her happy place was digging in the dirt and raising fresh food to cook and share with the community at our local Farmer’s Markets.
Shannon is dearly loved and missed by her mom and dad, Deborah and Chris; sister, Meagan Marion Kirby; brother, William Joseph ‘Liam’ Kirby, III; her father, William Joseph Kirby, Jr ; grandparents, William Joseph Kirby, Sr., Kim Kirby, and Maureen E. Larkin; and many friends and extended family members from coast to coast.
Due to current government restrictions, Shannon’s family is planning a private celebration of her life in the near future.
