Virginia Marie Christiansen

July 31, 1945 — April 4, 2022

Virginia Marie Christiansen (Davis), otherwise known as “Ginny,” 76, of Toledo, Washington, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2022, after a series of strokes, dementia, and cancer that had metastasized.

Ginny was born on July 31, 1945, to William John Davis and Ruth Lois Davis (Arnold), in Seattle, Washington. After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1963, she went to cosmetology school and began her career as a hairdresser. She also spent many years working as manager of medical offices in Lewis County, and prior to that time worked at the Sears catalog store in Sequim, Washington.

Ginny had two daughters, Sarah M. Schaeffer and Cheyann Pauley, as well as cherished grandchildren (by Cheyann): Trinity Gray, Jason Gray, Natalia Milliren, and Sullivan Pauley. She had many hobbies that throughout her life she was well-known for, especially shopping for antiques, shoes, and clothes, and year-round purchases of Christmas gifts for others at the best deals imaginable. She was also constantly engaged in various crafting and other related activities that allowed her to express her artistic abilities and interests (e.g., interior decorating and redecorating, quilting, or crocheting) and gardening. She further enjoyed riding snowmobiles, Harley-Davidsons, and all-terrain vehicles.

Ginny lived a full life, which might be considered by some as many lives within just her own lifetime, resulting in a unique family composed of various members who she developed memories with as treasures, and also had many hidden talents. For example, some who knew her well and even for several years may have still been surprised that she was an excellent bowler (winning in competitive tournaments during her younger years), received artistic merit recognition for her original ceramic sculpture during her teen years, and even managed and directed the local drama theater to produce community plays previously. Regardless, at no matter what point in her life, Ginny was known by all for her love of good, light-hearted conversations, sharing of happy memories, and silly sense of humor.

Ginny was predeceased by her father; mother; brother, William Arnold Davis; and stepmother, Margaret Hedington Davis. She is survived by her daughters and grandchildren named above; son-in-law, Roy Pauley; sister, Nancy Lucas; brother-in-law, Roger Lucas; stepsiblings, Nancy Tibbetts, Barbara Tibbetts, Gary Tibbetts, and Mark Hedington; uncle, Gary Meyers; many loving nieces and nephews; boyfriend of several years, John Olson—along with his sons, John and Jason; daughter-in-law, Tonya; and grandchildren (by John and Tonya): Addi, Ella, and Kadyn—that expanded upon Ginny’s role as grandmother; and her beloved miniature dachshund, Manny.

Donations in her memory may be made to the Toledo Neighbors Program (www.facebook.com/toledoneighbors), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, via PayPal (https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/toledoneighbors) or check (Toledo Neighbors Program, P.O. Box 1461, Toledo, WA 98591) by indicating in remembrance of Ginny.
